AI from HeyNota.com creates an e-newsletter in minutes

Newsletter creation in a couple of minutes instead of an hour or two is on the table with an AI-empowered SAAS platform HeyNota that Microsoft is supplying with best-in-class intellectual resources.
For Josh Brown and Evan Young, Co-founders of HeyNota.com, support from Microsoft is a game changer. They are also committed to providing assistive tools for the media industry using media-owned content, so their approach provides hallucination-free results without copyright issues.
Cost savings
According to tests, HeyNota.com can already create a newsletter from scratch, summarising six articles in about one to two minutes using the lead images from each article. The result can be dropped into an ESP, saving 45 minutes to an hour on each newsletter.
Humans are still needed to review and edit, but time-savings is substantial. Integration with leading ESP is on the horizon.
Brown got the idea while working at the LATimes.
“I had a Salesforce data set that showed me one of the very large sub-segments of my user base, so I know this one just wants opinions on government affairs. This one wants hiking, and the other one wants new restaurant openings. They don’t like to read anything else or engage with anything else.
“There are many sub-segments, but I only have two people who can create valuable newsletters. So, I couldn’t serve each individual in my community as well as I would like to serve them.
“What if you could create a newsletter in a minute instead of an hour, based on the content you already have?”
How it works
With HeyNota.com, the media first installs a browser extension. Then, any creator can go to any URL and add it to an email in a pre-formatted template, including the main image on the page.
Once the desired number of article summaries are added, click to view the email, copy it to the clipboard – you have the choice of text or HTML – and paste it into the ESP. That’s it.
Pricing
The BETA model is $300 a month, although a 20% discount for giving feedback may be applicable.
Other products included
While the email builder is the latest product created by HeyNota.com, other tools are aimed at optimizing content on the site for SEO. Currently optimizations include integration with WordPress. Any article posted to WordPress or pasted into the app is analyzed for SEO optimized headlines, and snapshot summaries. It will also create short video reals with images from the content, headlines, and AI generated music.
Early tests are reporting dramatic gains in traffic.
“This frees up your newsroom time, ” said Josh Brown, co-founder, who worked assessing technological solutions at the LA Times. “That’s the frustration – even at the LA Times. Journalists are expected to do way too much. They shouldn’t have to figure out SEO optimization or meta-tag structures. They shouldn’t have to spend hours trying to get a video of the article created. They shouldn’t have to, you know, spend hours and hours every day creating a newsletter.”
Company background
Founded by Evan Young, a tech start-up consultant, and Brown, who worked in sales at the LA Times, launched the company together in October 2022, with technical support from Microsoft, which owns ChatGpT.
“They brought us into their tech stack.”
This support means the company always has the best thinking.
