Create a News Podcast

To create a  daily or weekly news-round-up podcast, use this prompt strategy shared by Eric Shanfelt of Nearview Media, including two more steps to get from the script to podcast creation.  Shanfelt shared how to do it in this super useful video we used to recreate a prompt.

Prompt:

Please create a podcast script based on ten news stories, with each topic described in about two sentences from {url/feed} and the dates {date to date}. The script should have an engaging introduction and a compelling closing statement, with smooth transitions between topics. Ensure the script is in a conversational style suitable for a podcast and does not include non-spoken elements like segment titles.”

ChatGPT4 started the podcast like this:

“Hello Tampa Bay listeners, welcome to ‘This Weekend in Tampa Bay’. I’m bringing you the latest and most interesting news from our vibrant city. Let’s dive into what’s been happening this weekend.”

To create the podcast, Shanfelt then drops the script into  Beyond Words,  a speech-to-text program, selecting both a male and female voice to add interest.

Finally,  he uploads the script into  Buzzsprout, a super user-friendly hosting platform that distributes podcasts across 100+ outlets, including the largest ones,  Apple, Google, and Spotify.

Its website has an extensive “learn to” library and email customer support, which it claims has an average wait time of 26 minutes rather than 24 hours, which has become standard for most email support services.

Many thanks to Eric Shanfelt of  Nearview Media for sharing.
