NicheMediaInsider becomes NichePublisher.biz

NicheMediaInsider has changed its name to NichePublisher.biz to better reflect its growing audience of passionate, entrepreneurial publishers.

“We published LocalMediaInsider for more than a decade, so  NicheMediaInsider seemed like a logical name,” said Alisa Cromer, who founded both websites.

“However, as I worked with more niche magazines, I found myself drawn to titles named after their audience,” Cromer said. “When I saw Nurse Practitoner Magazine, a light bulb went off.”

“Our resources are for publishers, so putting the “Publisher” in the title immediately conveys that message.”

NichePublisher.biz covers tactics from and for independently-owned local media in addition to national verticals. While much of generalized news media has consolidated into a few very large chains, there is still a lively group of smaller, locally-owned local media operating  in small towns where they are the exclusive provider of  essential information, she said.

“Some of the best niches are small towns.”

“There are great ideas for video tools from local publishers that national verticals can use, and event strategies that come out of national B2B verticals, that local publishers can put into play.”

“Everyone is looking for ways to become more operationally efficient, while adding revenues and growing the audience. The goals is to  share great ideas across the board.”

Cromer is a veteran niche publisher herself, who founded a business journal and an alternative weekly, and served as COO of a company that also owned 22 city.com websites, in addition to weeklies.

“For me, NichePublisher.biz was a return to my roots,” she said. “Entrepreneurial companies have always been the most interesting, and people in the publishing industry today are also the most passionate.”
