Save Time on Video/podcasting: Publishers recommend these tools

There are dozens of tools to help create and edit videos and podcasts. However, the list below has been recommended by publishers who are using them to save time while produce quality content.
Video recording – phone and computer
- Streamyard—A great Zoom replacement to record with higher quality than Zoom, and stream to multiple social media platforms at the same time, including YouTube. Helps improve audio and video, including fixing faulty internet connections. “StreamYard is a professional live streaming and recording studio in your browser.” Test it free. Pro is $39 a month. It is not integrated with Zoom.
- Loom—Record and share quick videos with captions from spoken words-. Use for instructional videos for staff and clients. It’s free on the business plan or $12.50 a month for unlimited videos. Spotlight Media uses it instead of text emails.
- WhatsApp – has a built-in video recorder for Group Calls. Great for international teams.
Video editing – Create clips with AI
- Opus.pro – Uses AI to create ten viral clips with captions from one long video. 60 minutes free, then $9 a month.
- Upwork – For longer projects, post on Upwork with the tools you want contractors to use.
Speech-to-text with AI
- Otter.ai—Speech-to-text, with summary and sharing. It is used for staff meetings with remote workers to summarize and share assignments. NPB uses it to transcribe all interviews and webinars. Zoom now also has speech-to-text. Free plan, then $16,99 a month and up based on credits used.
Video and podcast editing
- Descript. Edit video and podcast recordings the way you edit text. Overdub, allowing users to synthesize their voice and various editing tools for webinars and vodcasts. Free, then $12 a month and up billed annually.
- Davinci Resolve – Video editing app. Lots of features experts appreciate.
- CapCut – Video Editing. It’s easier to use than DaVinci, but many options and templates exist. AP-Now uses all three to create their YouTube channel.
Podcasting Script creation from text
- ChatGPT4—Create and collect articles from an RSS feed for a podcast script. You will need the paid version from OpenAI rather than ChatGPT3.5.
Podcasting – Text-to-speech
- CereProc, another text-to-speech option, has a “voice shop” and claims to offer the most nuanced emotional speech synthesis for those who want the most lifelike voice possible. It now offers voice cloning as well as a voice shop. Starts at $35.78 one time payment.
- Beyond Words is another recommendation from Nearview Media. It’s super each to create text-to-speech, with 550 voices and shareable players. Pilot is free, and Pro is $89 a month.
Podcast hosting and distribution
- Buzzsprout. Eric Shanfelt of Nearview Media says it’s super friendly and has everything you need to be listed on 100+ podcasting outlets such as Spotify. Free for two hours a month, then $12 to $24 a month.
